How sinful is it that this 1969 John Huston film, starring John Hurt and Pamela Franklin (as well as a colorful supporting cast that includes Robert Morley and Fionnuala Flanagan0 has never been released in the U.S. in any format? Very. But TCM atones for this by showing it on June 2 at 5 AM — so set your DVR or simply stay up late to catch this rarity.

Yes, it is VERY “sinful” that “Sinful Davey” is not more appreciated–it is such a delightful romp! I caught it late night–2 a.m. west coast time–and was pleasantly surprised, having never seen it before. Absolutely loved John Hurt in the title role (I think he makes GREAT leading man material!) and I must make special note of so many of his wonderful costumes. Hurt and Pamela Franklin had a unique and adorable chemistry on screen. This film made quite an impression on me and I would certainly love to see it again! Entirely thought provoking. Thank you Turner Classic Movies!!!
